We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were four cases across Halton last week:
On Monday, January 9th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Queen Street and Churchill Road North in Acton. As a result of an investigation, a 37-year-old Fergus man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Monday, January 9th, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of the QEW and Third Line in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 21-year-old St. George man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Tuesday, January 10th, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of No 17 Sideroad and Sixth Line in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 35-year-old Beeton man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Thursday, January 12th, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of the Guelph Line and Prospect Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 62-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
