
Halton Police Motorcycle
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested a man after an investigation into an Oakville vehicle theft.
On Thursday, January 12th, the victim met with the man in order to sell his 2018 Range Rover. The two met in the area of Belyea Street and Nelson Street at roughly 4:15 p.m. at which time the suspect entered the driver’s seat of the vehicle and fled the area. Uniform officers attended and attempted to stop the stolen vehicle as it fled eastbound on the Queen Elizabeth Way near Mississauga Road. Officers were not able to stop the vehicle and the driver made good on his escape. The stolen vehicle was equipped with an aftermarket GPS device and was located a short time later at a Petro Canada parking lot in Mississauga. At roughly, 7:45 p.m. the suspect was observed by police to exit the stolen vehicle. He was arrested without incident.
38-year-old Calvin Peacock of no fixed address has been charged with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Flight from Police
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
- Fail to Comply with Probation
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl
- Possession of Automobile Master Key (7 counts)
- Possession of Break in Instruments
- Carry Concealed Weapon
- Drive While Prohibited (2 counts)
- Drive While Under Suspension (2 counts)
Peacock has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
A search of the suspect and vehicle lead to the seizure of the following:
- Roughly six grams of fentanyl
- Stolen licence plate
- Seven blank automobile master keys
- Large hunting knife
