An arrest has been announced in a pair of cold case homicides dating back almost four decades.
Toronto Police Chief James Ramer says 61-year-old Joseph George Sutherland is charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Erin Gilmour and Susan Tice.
The two women were sexually assaulted and stabbed to death in their homes within four months of each other in 1983.
Gilmour was a 22-year-old aspiring fashion designer and Tice was a 45-year-old who held a master’s degree in social work and worked with disadvantaged children.
