Prancing with the Stars 2019 event
‘Prancing with the Stars’ is back!
The Oakville & Milton Humane Society (OMHS) will be holding the event for the first time three years. It will feature community dancers paired with a professional dance partner to compete for the title of ‘Best in Dance Show’. The trophy is awarded to the highest scoring dance duo based on technical ability, entertainment value and popular vote.
Oakville native Cari MacLean, who chairs the Prancing with the Stars committee, oversaw the inaugural Prancing with the Stars in 2019 which raised more than $140,000 to support the Society’s life-saving work. “After a long three years, it’s wonderful that once again we can come together to celebrate Prancing with the Stars in person! Yes, we will be live, not virtual, and back at the beautiful Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre on November 3 for the gala event of the year,” says MacLean.
Clayton Shold, Chair of the Oakville & Milton Humane Society’s Board of Directors, adds that Prancing with the Stars is an opportunity to celebrate and support the animals that are always there for us, especially during the pandemic. “Sadly, many of the pets that helped so many get through the pandemic, are now finding they are without a home as life begins to return to normal,” he says.
“The number of surrenders to local shelters like OMHS are now at record numbers. As a result, this has placed unprecedented financial pressures on the Society to continue its mission to protect and make life better for animals. These animals all deserve a second chance at a better life, and that’s why we are counting on our community and partners to make this edition of Prancing with the Stars an equally successful event,” added Shold.
Prancing with the Stars features the following dancers: Katherine Dawick, Loretta Phinney, Jasmin El-Hamad, Melissa Barlock, Bryan McClenaghan, and John Scarlett. Each community dancer has committed to raising $7,000 for OMHS.
Presented by Royal Canin, the dancing will take place on Thursday, November 3rd from 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. at the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre at 2525 Wyecroft Road. The VIP meet and greet takes place at 5:00 p.m. with the dancers and the competition begins at approximately 8:30 p.m.
