Halton Police have provided an update on the ongoing homicide investigation from Monday.
On Monday, September 12th, at approximately 2:50 p.m. the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) responded to multiple reports of a shooting at an auto shop in Milton.
Police attended a business located at 32 Bronte Street South, and found three victims with gunshot wounds.
Tragically, 38-year-old Shakeel Ashraf of Milton, died at the scene and two other victims were transported to hospital.
They remain in critical and serious conditions and police are not releasing their names at this time.
The HRPS would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims during this difficult time.
Officers would also like to offer additional support to those in the community who may need it through their Victim Services Unit (VSU). The VSU can be reached at 905-825-4777 ext. 5239.
Shortly after the shooting in Milton, members of the HRPS and Hamilton Police Service located the armed suspect in a cemetery in the city of Hamilton where an altercation took place with police.
The HRPS can confirm the suspect is deceased and the Special Investigations Unit is now investigating that altercation.
As required by law, no further information can be provided by the HRPS at this time.
The HRPS is working with the Peel Regional Police to investigate these events, and anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the the Homicide Tip Line at 905-825-4776.

The suspect in connection with multiple shooting investigations throughout Peel and Halton today (Sept. 12th) is dead.
At 7:34 p.m. today, Hamilton Police confirmed that the male suspect was taken into custody and has been pronounced deceased.

At 6:05 p.m. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said in a tweet that The SIU has invoked its mandate in relation to a shooting involving a Halton Regional Police Service officer this afternoon on York Blvd in Hamilton.

UPDATE: 4:55PM – September 12th 2022
Halton Police confirm that an active shooter is now in custody after he was located this afternoon (September 12th).
As of 4:33 p.m. in Milton today, Halton Police officers say one person has been pronounced deceased at the scene, and two other victims have been transported to the hospital.
The male suspect was first reported by Peel Police at 3:04 p.m., after reports of multiple shootings in Mississauga, where an officer was shot and killed, and another person was taken to a local trauma centre.
The suspect then made his way to Milton, where Halton Police closed down Bronte Steet South from King Street to Main Street, in relation to the shooting investigation.
The investigation led officers towards Hamilton where the suspect was reportedly taken into police custody around York Blvd.

Police are searching for an active shooter in the area.
Halton Police say Bronte Steet South is closed from King Street to Main Street in Milton in relation to a shooting investigation.
The suspect fled the area in a stolen black Jeep Cherokee, license plate CLMZ 905.
The suspect is reportedly armed and dangerous. Residents are asked to not approach the suspect, avoid the area, and call 911 if the suspect is seen.
The suspect is described as a 30-year-old male, wearing a construction vest.
Anyone with information pertaining to this incident or suspect should call 911 immediately.
