We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were five cases across Halton last week. Four of them involved Milton:
On Monday, August 22nd, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Main Street and Ontario Street in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 40-year-old Burlington resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, August 23rd, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of James Snow Parkway South and Clark Boulevard in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 59-year-old resident of Milton was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, August 24th, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Farmstead Drive and Tyrone Crescent in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 40-year-old Milton resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, August 25th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of James Snow Parkway South and Clark Boulevard in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Kitchener resident was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Thursday, August 25th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Lakeshore Road and Lakeview Avenue in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 52-year-old Burlington resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
