The final numbers are in for the All Hands on Deck food drive.
We held our 4th annual event on Thursday, August 18th at John’s No Frills at 6520 Derry Road West in Milton. The goal was to collect food and monetary donations for Food4Kids Halton. Their Program Coordinator, Stacey Halliday, says the organization is all about helping children.
The whole day was made easy for customers to donate as John’s No Frills was selling $5 grab bags that everything that Food4Kids Halton was looking to collect. Those bags were then placed into the back of the big Wallace Chevrolet pickup truck that was lent for use.
The final tally came in over the weekend, with the food donations coming to a total of $4,374.70 in retail value, as well as $5,970 in cash and cheque donations. That’s a total of $10,344.70 in donations, which is a new record for the food drive. The cheque donation came from John’s No Frills gathering monetary donations from customers leading up to the event.
Stop by, grab a $5 bag inside the store and bring it out to us and help us fill this big @WallaceChev truck!
We’re here until 5pm today, so come say hi and buy a bag! pic.twitter.com/JHZTBKj9P7

Halliday was grateful to see the community come out to support Food4Kids Halton.
The All Hands on Deck food drive for Food4Kids Halton is expected to return for a 5th year next August.
