The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has provided the latest impaired driving results for the surrounding area.
Within the last weekend, there were eight impaired driving cases reported in Halton; three of them involved Milton.
On Friday, August 12th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Oak Walk Drive and Oak Park Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 45-year-old Oakville woman was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, August 13th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Walkers Line and Upper Middle Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 34-year-old Hamilton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, August 13th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Trudeau Drive and James Snow Parkway in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Saturday, August 13th, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Third Line and Wyecroft Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 35-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, August 13th, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Guelph Line and Fairview Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 48-year-old Hamilton woman was charged with operation while impaired.
On Saturday, August 13th, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Campbell Avenue East and Campbellville Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 33-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, August 14th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Steeles Avenue and Eighth Line North in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 36-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, August 14th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Mainway and Burloak Drive in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 37-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
