Residents will be able to experience a unique multicultural experience this weekend.
The Milton African and Multicultural Festival is on Saturday, August 13th. The programming will bring together arts and cultures representing Central, North, South and West world people and the Diaspora. Founder Jean Assamoa says the 2nd annual event will be great for promoting diversity.
The website for the Festival shares its goal:
to get everyone, youth and adults alike, involved in an organized festival to bring energy, excitement and history of our people, philosophy, values, and principles.
Assamoa says he loves Milton and wanting to showcase all of its diversity.
The Milton African and Multicultural Festival will begin to allow attendees into the area at 10:00 a.m., with opening remarks at 11:00 a.m.. The full schedule from their website is here:

11:00am: Prayer of Benediction(First Nations) followed by Canadian Anthem
11:15am: Taste of Africa
11:20: Speech of President of Akwaba Cultural Exchange
11:25am: Mayor Krantz
11:30am: MP Federal Adam van Koeverden
11:35am: MPP Parm Gill
11:40am: President of ACIRT(Association of Ivory Coast in Toronto)
11:45am: Ambassador of Ivory Coast
11:50am: Music DJ

12:30pm: Solo singer Princess Anne from Nigeria
12:50pm: David Odele(Multi-talent drummer from Nigeria)
1:15pm: MECUDA
1:45pm: Lumembo Tshiswaka(storyteller-Poet from Congo)
2:10pm: Amadou kienou( Multi-talent singer and drummer from Burkina Faso)
2:30pm: Jacques YAMS(solo Singer from Cameroon)
3:00pm: ACIRT(Fashion show- Skylight on Sponsors and others..)
4:00pm: Steve Stoddart and Band(Gospel-Salsa and reggae)
5:00pm: ACIRT(Raffle- Ceremony of recognition and others…)
6:00pm: Gloria Gift Nankunda(African dance group from Ouganda)
6:30pm: Bulgarian Folklore dance group from Bulgaria
7:00pm: Dj(Soukouss- African music- Coupe Decale-Reggae and others)
8:15pm: End of festival
It will be at the Milton Sports Centre Community Park in the area of Derry Road and Santa Maria Boulevard in Milton.
