Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz will have some competition this fall for his mayoral position.
Regional Councillor for Milton’s Ward 4 Zeeshan Hamid announced that he will be running for Mayor of Milton. He made the news public in the popular Facebook group ‘Milton Talk’, which Hamid created.
Councillor Hamid has spent 12 collective years representing Milton’s Ward 4 at both the Town and Regional level. He represents the Ward alongside Town Councillor Sameera Ali, who also extended her political career with a dip in provincial politics as the Liberal Candidate for Milton in the 2022 provincial election.
The current Mayor of Milton is Gordon Krantz, who announced at a Mayor’s Breakfast event this year that he will run for the seat for at least one more time. Mayor Krantz is the longest serving mayor in Canadian history, holding the position for 42 years, which surpassed ‘Hurricane’ Hazel McCallion’s record in 2016.
The Town of Milton municipal election will be on October 24th. You can apply to be a part of the municipal election and get PAID. Learn more here.
