We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton on the weekend. Two of them involved Milton:
On Friday, July 8th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Caroline Street and Martha Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 31-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, July 9th, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Swindale Drive and Grant Way in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 35-year-old Milton resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, July 10th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Fairview Street and Drury Lane in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 41-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, July 10th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Harvester Road and Walkers Line in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 38-year-old Toronto man was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Sunday, July 10th, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Church Street and Trafalgar Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, July 11th, Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Main Street East and Ontario Street South in Milton. As a result of this initiative, a 30-year-old Toronto man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
