Police are reminding outdoor enthusiasts to know their limits and always carry a cell phone…just in case.
This after a woman and her dog became stranded while paddle boarding along the Nottawasaga River.
It ended well though….An Angus woman and her dog are back home thanks to a family member, a good Samaritan and the OPP Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
On Sunday (Jul10) a 41 year old Essa woman and her pup intended to paddleboard along the Nottawasaga River to Edenvale Conservation Centre but low water levels led her
to portage in several areas.
This left her exhausted and approximately halfway through the 20-kilometre trek, she and her dog were forced to stop and wait for assistance.
Her assistance came by boat, but low water levels left them in the same predicament.
Eventually they all met up but had to spend the night in the bush.
The group was eventually rescued and lifted out by helicopter.
