We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton last week. One of them involved Milton:
On Monday, June 20th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Burloak Drive and the QEW in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 43-year-old Oakville man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, June 20th, Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Main Street East and Martin Street in Milton. As a result of this initiative, a 39-year-old Milton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, June 21st, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Guelph Line and No 1 Side Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 47-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Tuesday, June 21st, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Francis Road and North Shore Boulevard East in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 56-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, June 22nd, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Falgarwood Drive and Grosvenor Street in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 61-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, June 23rd, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Waterdown Road and the QEW in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 47-year-old Hamilton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
