The latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police is now available.
It shows six cases across Halton on the weekend. One of them involving Milton:
On Saturday, May 28th, just before 2:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Watson Avenue and Cornwall Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 22-year-old Mississauga man was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Saturday, May 28th, just after 7:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Regional Road 25 and 15 Side Road in Georgetown. As a result of an investigation, a 24-year-old Maple man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Saturday, May 28th, just before 9:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Maple Avenue and Maple Crossing Boulevard in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 44-year-old Port Perry man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, May 28th, just before 8:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of New Street and Guelph Line in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 34-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Sunday, May 29th, just after 5:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Trafalgar Road and the QEW in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 26-year-old Scarborough man was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Monday, May 30th, just after 4:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Campbellville Road and Appleby Line in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 28-yer-old Guelph man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
