We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were four cases across Halton last week. Fortunately, none of the cases involved Milton.
On May 24, 2022, just after 6:00 pm, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Cumberland Avenue and Prospect Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 64-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On May 24, 2022, just before 10:30 pm, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Dublin Line and 25 Side Road in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 29-year-old Acton man was charged with operation while impaired.
On May 25, 2022, just after 11:00 pm, Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Highway 7 and Hyland Avenue in Halton Hills. As a result of this initiative, a 31-year-old Mississauga woman was charged with operation while impaired.
On May 26, 2022, just before 8:30 am, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Dorval Drive and North Service Road West in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 39-year-old Burlington woman was charged with operation while impaired.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
