We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton on the long weekend. Four of them involved Milton.
On Friday, May 20th, just before 9:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Third Line and Queen Elizabeth Way in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 58-year-old Brampton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, May 20th, just before 12:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Regional Road 25 and Lower Base Line in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 45-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, May 21st, just after 5:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Charles Street and Commercial Street in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 75-year-old Milton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, May 21st, just after 11:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Ferguson Drive and Hearst Boulevard in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Burlington woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, May 22nd, just after 1:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Campbell Avenue East and Canyon Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Kleinburg woman was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, May 22nd, just after 5:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Upper Middle Road East and Highway 403 off ramp in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 27-year-old Newcastle man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
