We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were five cases across Halton last weekend. One of them involved Milton:
On Saturday, May 14th, just before 3:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Milburough Town Line and Concession Road 11 in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 21-year-old Freelton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, May 14th, just before 3:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Guelph Street and Mountainview Road in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 55-year-old Halton Hills man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, May 14th, just after 10:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Brant Street and North Service Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 26-year-old Barrie man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, May 15th, just after 1:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Plains Road East and Willowbrook Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, May 15th, just after 3:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Speers Road and Morden Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 51-year-old Hamilton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
