The Milton Sports Hall of Fame is holding a summer camp!
This will be the second year for the sports camp. In 2019, the organization announced the inaugural camp. The original plan was to hold it annually, but that was put on hold with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Board member Rod McLachlan shares what residents can expect.
He adds that he really enjoyed the experience of the first camp, and everyone involved carried a fantastic attitude throughout the week. He recalls a particular water break when the kids were resting in some shade. The kids then spoke with speaker Scott Hogarth about his experience in athletics. McLachlan says the local martial arts expert impressed the kids with his journey of turning his athletic background into an film career.
The kid is for boys and girls aged 9-12. Rod says there is a low chance that any kids who attended the 2019 camp will be at the second camp just because of the age bracket. He’s excited to have a new group of athletes come and learn from the great minds who will be speaking and leading the way.
The summer camp is being held Monday, July 4th to Friday, July 8th at Milton District High School. The days generally run from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.. Kids will get a t-shirt and pizza lunch on the Friday. You can register your kids here. The cost is $250 to attend, but McLachlan assures parents that if price is the only thing keeping your child from joining, they can work on ways around it. The proceeds from the camp will help fund the Milton Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
