COVID-19: Death reported, eight more hospitalizations

The Region says it will move to a twice-a-week update system. This begins Tuesday, May 10th. The updates will come Tuesday and Friday.

The latest COVID-19 stats from the Halton Region show an additional death in the totals. The death appears to be an Oakville resident, giving the town 104 deaths total. Burlington is at 128 deaths total. Halton Hills remains at 67 deaths total. Milton remains at 65 deaths total. Halton is now at 364 deaths total from COVID-19.

Across Halton, there are 77 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 48,943. There have been 1,258 total hospitalizations in Halton and 364 deaths.

In Milton, we had 17 new cases. That brings us to 13,148 total cases. There have been 296 total hospitalizations in Milton and 65 deaths.

There are two outbreaks in Milton:

• Congregate living facility known as ‘Congregate Living – 139’
• Martindale Gardens Retirement Home – Fourth Floor

Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 1,319,805 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 1,174,202 of the doses were to Halton residents.

Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:

• 65,677 total doses have been administered to people aged 5-11;
• 103,876 total doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;
• 106,825 total doses have been administered to people aged 18-24;
• 68,780 total doses have been administered to people aged 25-29;
• 80,304 total doses have been administered to people aged 30-34;
• 93,562 total doses have been administered to people aged 35-39;
• 100,520 total doses have been administered to people aged 40-44;
• 105,586 total doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
• 106,331 total doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
• 101,551 total doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
• 90,984 total doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
• 78,798 total doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
• 74,106 total doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
• 58,502 total doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
• 84,230 total doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
• 173 total additional doses are pending.

The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:

• 369,938 total doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
• 34,569 total doses have been administered through other clinic settings;
• 915,298 total doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.

Below are the numbers for Ontario, including 1,089 new cases province-wide. There have been 1,277,205 total cases in Ontario.
