We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton last weekend – three involved Milton:
On Friday, April 8th, just before 8:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Trafalgar Road and Derry Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 20-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Saturday, April 9th, just after 4:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a complaint in the area of Sycamore Garden and Cherry Court in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 44-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, April 9th, just after 5:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of March Crossing and Cooper Avenue in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 43-year-old York man was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Sunday, April 10th, just after 1:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Plains Road East and Maple Avenue in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Mississauga man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, April 10th, just after 5:30 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Reynolds Street and Cornwall Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 49-year-old Oakville man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, April 11th, just before after 2:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Walkers Line and Lakeshore Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 25-year-old Markham man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
