Milton Memorial Arena, 2019
It was a win the Milton Menace needed.
Going into Tuesday night, the Menace were preparing for their first ever playoff series that kicks off on Saturday. They just had one more regular season game to go, and it was against who some might consider their current rival: the Burlington Cougars.
Milton went into the Burlington arena and opened the scoring late in the first period, thanks to an unassisted powerplay goal from James Barbour. The Cougars tied the game shortly after to end the period 1-1 after twenty.
The second period was scoreless, meaning it was 1-1 heading into the third. Milton’s Lucas Buzziol then scored less than a minute into the final period. A pair of empty netters by Nicholas Wereha and Buzziol sealed the deal for the Menace, giving them the 4-1 win to end the regular season.
Carter Tahk stopped 25 of 26 shots.
Milton finished the season with a 36-11-1-6 with 79 points in 54 games. Milton ranked third in goals against, and fourth in goals for. They will take on the Georgetown Raiders in the first round of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). Game one will be on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Milton Memorial Arena.
