It was a pretty impressive weekend for the Milton Menace.
The team went into Burlington on Friday night with the plan take hold of 1st place in the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s (OJHL) West Division. They took on the Cougars, and the Cougars to just one goal. That said, the Menace were held scoreless. Burlington beat Milton 1-0.
Carter Tahk was almost unbeatable, stopping 32 of 33 shots. The Menace put 28 shots on not against the Cougars goalie.
The loss placed the Menace firmly behind the Cougars for 2nd place in the West.
Game two of the weekend was on Sunday. Milton took on the Collingwood Blues. The game started with a scoreless first period after Holden Rogers was held off the scoresheet on an unsuccessful penalty shot.
The second period was where the Menace took over. Rogers managed to get his goal when he scored shorthanded four minutes in. It was assisted by Ethan Sims. The Blues then tied the game a minute later. Ten minutes into the period, Captain Jordan Stock scored the go-ahead goal, assisted by Tyler Turpin and Milton’s Ryan O’Donnell. Andrew Horsley scored a third Menace goal, assisted by Cole Semeniuk and James Barbour. It was 3-1 after two.
One goal was scored in the third period as Stock was able to score shorthanded. It was assisted by Ben Hofstetter and Ryan Holmes. The Menace was 4-1. Tahk had an easy game, stopping 15 of 16 shots.
The playoff bound Milton Menace are 34-11-0-5 after 50. They remain in second place behind Burlington in the OJHL’s West Division. They are tied for fourth across the league, with a game in hand on the North York Rangers.
The next Milton game is on Friday in Georgetown. The Menace face the Raiders at the Mold-Masters Arena at 6:30 p.m..
