Craig Kielburger Secondary School
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) says a telephone threat led to an investigation at a Milton school.
The report came in at roughly 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 1st. A threat was made regarding Craig Kielburger Secondary School in Milton.
An investigation has determined the threat to be unsubstantiated, and it is believed this is a “swatting” incident.
“Swatting” is a criminal offence involving a dangerous prank call, in which a caller makes a false report with the express purpose of having numerous police and emergency resources dispatched to an ongoing critical incident. Such calls undermine the ability of emergency responders to respond to legitimate calls for service.
The investigation is ongoing at this time in efforts to identify the party responsible for initiating the call. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Halton Regional Police Service at 905-825-4777 ext. 2415 or ext. 2416.
