A new school has been announced for Milton.
Milton MPP Parm Gill held a press conference at the building site along James Snow Parkway, just south of Louis St. Laurent Avenue on Monday morning.
There will be capacity for 788 students, as well as 88 childcare spaces.
This is the eighth Milton school MPP Gill has announced since entering office in 2018.
He adds that he understands there is still more need for schools here in Milton, stressing that he is constantly in communication with his colleagues about getting the funding for more schools, as well as expansions for current schools.
There has been criticism in recent years saying that Milton has too many students, not enough schools. MPP Gill says he understands that people are frustrated by the issue. He wishes the system allowed Milton to plan ahead of the growth.

Ontario’s Education Minister Stephen Lecce was at the announcement. His focus continues to be on investing in modern schools with better ventilation.
“In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made safer schools a priority, which is why we continue to invest in modern and accessible learning spaces with improved ventilation… This investment is part of our multi-year plan to build, expand, and update schools and child care spaces across our province. It will leave a lasting legacy that benefits working families for years to come.”
When asked, Halton District School Board Trustee Heather Gerrits estimated that the timeline could see the school opening in either 2024 or 2025, saying it takes about two and a half years to build a school. That could be delayed depending on how the COVID-19 pandemic affects the supply chain in the coming years.
