The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is reporting that three dogs were rescued from a house fire in Georgetown.
The fire happened on Sunday, February 6th at roughly 2:45 p.m.. It was at a house on Delrex Boulevard. Officers quickly arrived at the home and spoke with neighbours who reported that they believed the homeowners were not home but that three large German Shepherds were normally inside.
Officers entered the smoke filled home – crawling on their hands and knees – Constable Ryan Brown and Constable Michael Kenny searched the home. They found no one inside, but found the three dogs and safely brought them outside. Halton Hills Fire arrived on scene and were able to extinguish the fire quickly. The homeowner arrived home shortly after and confirmed there was no one else in the residence.
The amount of damage as a result of the fire is unknown at this time.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the fire department but is not believed to be suspicious.
The officers and the dogs were treated by paramedics at the scene and all are reported to be doing well.
