Schools across Ontario are now required to monitor and report student and staff absences to the Ministry of Education, as well as any potential school closures.
The Ministry of Education also requires schools to report when student absence rates rise to a level of 30% or more to their local Public Health Unit.
If the level of absences reaches 30% or more, a letter will be sent home to families at that school.
The school closure will be posted on the COVID-19 Advisory Board.
More than 350 Ontario schools have reported an absence rate of 30% or higher this week.
Seven schools across the province closed yesterday, and there are 370 schools with student and staff absence rates of 30% or higher.
As of today, one school in Milton is reporting an absentee rate of above 30%.
