The weather this week definitely kicked us around.
After the few days that we’ve had, you may be wondering how to improve for the next big snowstorm.
For the latest edition of ‘Ask a Cop’, Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Constable and Media Relations Officer Ryan Anderson says the big thing is to always be prepared.
He says the big thing they saw during the snowstorm was vehicles getting stuck in the snow. He stresses the importance of getting winter tires on your vehicle to improve your chances of making it through storms.
Constable Anderson says if you ever find yourself stuck on a major road during a storm, call the police.
He adds that at the very least, officers can put their lights on to alert nearby motorists of where your vehicle is while a tow truck is called.
As a parent, Constable Anderson empathises with residents who may be forced to go into work while their kids are stuck at home with a snow day. He says the silver lining of the last two years is that we’ve learned to adapt in situations like these, even if we don’t like them.
‘Ask a Cop’ will return next week with more of your questions being answered. Reach out if you have any questions that you’d like answered by a local police officer.
