We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were three cases across Halton last week. Fortunately, none of the three cases involved Milton:
On Wednesday, January 12th, just before 2:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Plains Road East and King Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 61-year-old Stoney Creek woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, January 12th, just after 7:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Trafalgar Road and Steeles Avenue in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Georgetown woman was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Friday, January 14th, just after 5:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Walkers Line and Upper Middle Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 56-year-old Burlington woman was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
