The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested a Milton man in connection with making child pornography and other child sexual abuse-related offences.
The HRPS Internet Child Exploitation Unit (I.C.E.) made the initial arrest back on December 29th. The accused was again arrested on January 12, 2022, and further charges were laid.
36-year-old Omar Ashi has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of Child Pornography (2 counts)
- Making Child Pornography (3 counts)
- Voyeurism (2 counts)
- Assault
- Forcible Confinement
He was held pending a bail hearing.
The offences are alleged to have occurred in Milton, and Burlington, and span over several years. The accused also goes by the name Omar Ashi-Popp. Police believe there may be additional victims.
These investigations have been funded and made possible through a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
