We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were eight cases across Halton last weekend. One of them involved Milton:
On Friday, December 31st, just after 8:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Ghent Avenue and Brant Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 41-year-old of Stoney Creek man was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Friday, December 31st, just after 9:30 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Walkers Line and Upper Middle Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 63-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, January 1st, just before 1:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Sherwood Heights Drive and Winston Churchill Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Mississauga man was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Saturday, January 1st, just before 4:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Dundas Street East and Earnest Appelbe Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 41-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, January 2nd, just before 4:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Prospect Street and Brant Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 49-year-old Burlington woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, January 3rd, just before 1:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Harvester Road and South Service Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 28-year-old Mississauga man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, January 3rd, just before 10:30 p.m., Halton Police officers were conducting an investigation in the area of Regency Court and Prospect Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 31-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, January 3rd, just before 11:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Guelph Line and Campbellville Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 41-year-old Gatineau (Quebec) man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
