We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were nine cases across Halton last week. One of them involved Milton:
On Friday, December 17th, just after 11:30 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Plains Road and Sanford Drive in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 29-year-old Dundalk man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Monday, December 20th, just before 4:30 p.m., Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Walkers Line and Dundas Street in Burlington. As a result of this initiative, a 36-year-old Waterdown man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, December 20th, just before 10:00 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Davidson Court and North Service Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 50-year-old Toronto man was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Wednesday, December 22nd, just after 1:30 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Trafalgar Road and Hornby Road in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 26-year-old Kincardine man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, December 22nd, just before 4:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Highway 401 and James Snow Parkway in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Cambridge man was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Wednesday, December 22nd, just before 5:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Millcroft Park Drive and Dundas Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, December 22nd, just after 7:00 p.m., Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Cornwall Road and Chartwell Road in Oakville. As a result of this initiative, a 44-year-old Waterloo woman was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, December 22nd, just after 9:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Crescent Street and Poplar Avenue in Acton. As a result of an investigation, a 20-year-old Acton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, December 23rd, just 12:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Third Line and Bridge Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 33-year-old Welland resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
