The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reporting 55 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in South Simcoe in the last day (dec 21).
17 of those in New Tecumseth, 17 in Innisfil, 14 in Bradford West Gwillimbury, 5 in Essa and 2 in Adjala-Tosorontio.
10 of the cases were in people 17 years of age and under.
There were 174 confirmed cases in Simcoe County with 62 in Barrie, alone.
There are now 372 active cases in South Simcoe, up 30 since Tuesday (dec 21) with 3 cases in hospital which is up 1.
The health unit newly reported cases may not contain complete information and information about hospitalization numbers may be delayed
With kids aged 5-11 now eligible for vaccine, the health unit now shows 80% of residents of Simcoe Muskoka have had their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine with 75% fully vaccinated.
Today’s case count pushes the pandemic total in South Simcoe passed the 7000 mark, with 7001 infections, 6540 recovered and 89 deaths.
