The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reporting another COVID related fatality in South Simcoe.
A Bradford West Gwillimbury resident passed away bringing the pandemic death toll in South Simcoe to 89.
The health unit says there were 34 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded in South Simcoe in the last day (dec 20).
13 of those in Innisfil, 11 in Bradford West Gwillimbury, 6 in New Tecumseth, 3 in Essa and 1 Adjala-Tosorontio.
6 of the new cases were in people 17 years of age and under.
There were 118 confirmed cases in Simcoe County with 45 in Barrie, alone.
There are now 342 active cases in South Simcoe, up 6 since Monday (dec 20) with 2 cases in hospital which is down 2.
With kids aged 5-11 now eligible for vaccine, the health unit now shows 80% of residents of Simcoe Muskoka have had their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine with 75% fully vaccinated.
