COVID-19: Over 200 cases reported in Halton

The latest COVID-19 stats for Milton and Halton have been released.

Across Halton, there have been 201 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 21,657. With 20,657 resolved cases and 245 deaths, Halton is at 755 active cases, 145 more than Thursday. The Region says that of the 21,657 total cases, 20,923 were confirmed positive while 734 were considered probable cases.

In Milton, we have 46 new cases. That brings us to 6836 total cases. With 6614 resolved cases and 47 deaths, Milton is at 175 active cases, 29 more than Thursday’s update. The Region says that of the 6836 total cases, 6579 were confirmed positive while 257 were considered probable cases.

The Halton Region is reporting variant case totals. It says that 8334 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2703 total variant cases.

An outbreak has been declared at a congregate living facility. It is labelled only as ‘Congregate Living – 80’ on the Halton Region outbreak webpage. There are 89 cases being reported – 30 are non-Halton cases, 57 are residents, and two are staff cases. It was first declared on Thursday, November 4th.

Another outbreak has been declared at a Milton school. It is at Tarbiyah Elementary School on Ontario Street South. There are currently just two cases, the minimum required for an outbreak to be reported. Both are considered Halton cases. It was declared on Friday, December 10th.

The Halton Region has reported an outbreak at a second Milton school. This one is at Elementary School Catholic Saint-Nicolas on Woodward Avenue. There are currently four cases being reported – three Halton cases and one non-Halton case. It was declared on Tuesday, December 14th.

A fitness facility in Milton has reported an outbreak. It is listed as ‘Sports & Fitness – 10’ by the Halton Region. There are currently seven cases being reported, all of which are Halton cases. It was first declared on Tuesday, December 14th.

Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 984,744 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 881,900 of the doses were to Halton residents.

462,557 second doses have been administered in Halton. 411,873 of those have been Halton residents.

58,068 additional doses have been administered in Halton. 51,681 of those have been Halton residents.

Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:

• 23,875 first doses, 1411 second doses and o additional doses have been administered to people aged 5-11;
• 40,095 first doses, 48,410 second doses and 122 additional doses have been administered to people aged 12-17;

• 38,488 first doses, 40,585 second doses and 2169 additional doses have been administered to people aged 45-49;
• 37,457 first doses, 38,856 second doses and 3845 additional doses have been administered to people aged 50-54;
• 35,783 first doses, 35,969 second doses and 4676 additional doses have been administered to people aged 55-59;
• 29,119 first doses, 29,044 second doses and 6072 additional doses have been administered to people aged 60-64;
• 25,509 first doses, 24,658 second doses and 4922 additional doses have been administered to people aged 65-69;
• 22,979 first doses, 22,483 second doses and 9251 additional doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
• 17,346 first doses, 17,182 second doses and 7881 additional doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
• 24,743 first doses, 24,543 second doses and 13,016 additional doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
• 103 first doses, four second doses and zero additional doses are pending.

The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:

• 85,506 first doses, 111,665 second doses and 27,088 additional doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
• 13,898 first doses, 10,137 second doses and 6044 additional doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
• 364,715 first doses, 341,755 second doses and 24,936 additional doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
