The Chief Medical Officer of Health with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit says everyone needs to follow the health and safety protocols, in the face of rising COVID case counts.
Dr. Charles Gardner says COVID booster shots are becoming more widely available and children aged 5 – 11 are eligible for the vaccine, meaning almost everyone is covered.
He says the rising case count is compromising the Health Unit’s ability to respond to new cases and the Omicron Variant is making gains.
Dr. Gardner says he is not the only one who is concerned.

Dr. Gardner suggests if you have not already scaled back your Christmas plans, that you do so, to lower the chances of transmission.
He was also not opposed to another provincial lockdown beginning on Boxing Day.
