Last week, the Ontario Science Advisory Table said we are looking at a potential for 3000 COVID-19 a day by mid-January and 400 people in ICU.
This doesn’t even factor in the Omicron variant.
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit Chief Medical Officer of the Health Dr Charles Gardner says with the proliferation of the Omicron variant, those numbers seem very optimistic.
Dr Gardner says getting more people vaccinated, especially kids aged 5-12, would help.
The projections also don’t factor in the possibility of increased socialization over the holidays.
