Environment Canada is calling for LOTS of rain tonight and tomorrow.
By the end of Saturday, we’re expecting up to 45 mm of rain in Milton and the surrounding area. The forecast projects that 20-30 mm of the rain will drop tonight. This rain will come with heavy winds as we’re looking at potential gusts of 70-90 km/h.
Environment Canada explains where the weather is coming from:
“A strong cold front will make its way through southern Ontario bringing rain and strong winds. Strong and gusty southwesterly winds are possible Saturday afternoon, while strong and gusty northwesterly winds are expected to set in by Saturday evening, particularly along the shores of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.”
It lists some potential impacts from this heavy rainfall:
- Local power outages possible.
- Loose objects may be tossed about.
- Tree branches may break.
- Flash floods due to heavy downpours and water pooling on roads is possible.
- Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
- Possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
