We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton last weekend. One of them involved Milton:
On Friday, November 19th, just before 9:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Walkers Line and Mainway in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 45-year-old Burlington woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, November 20th, just after 12:00 a.m., Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Brant Street and Plains Road East in Burlington. As a result of this initiative, a 50-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, November 20th, just before 5:00 a.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Waterdown Road and Highway 403 in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 35-year-old Smithville man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, November 20th, just before 8:30 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Dundas Street West and Brant Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 44-year-old Waterdown man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, November 21st, just before 2:00 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Derry Road and Highway 407 in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 33-year-old Mississauga man was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Monday, November 22th, just after 2:30 a.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Thomas Alton Boulevard and Nixon Gate in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 23-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
