The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has updated the Section 22 Class Order for self isolation to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, Section 22 is to include those 18 years of age and younger who are not fully vaccinated or who live in the same household
as someone who has been identified as a close contact as a positive source.
These individuals are to self isolate for 10 days, with the close contact.
Chief Medical Officer of Health with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, Dr. Charles Gardner says this is in response to the rapidly rising cases of COVID in children
and youth.
As of November 23, the health Unit reports, 25-percent of the positive COVID cases are in children under the age of 12, who until now have been unable to receive a
vaccine.
Children aged 5 – 11, can now obtain immunization through participating pharmacies, primary care providers and community clinics.
