We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were three cases across Halton last week. Two involved Milton:
On Tuesday, November 16th, just after 12:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Highway 401 in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 53-year-old Scarborough man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, November 16th, just after 11:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Derry Road and Sauve Street in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 36-year-old Mississauga man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Thursday, November 18th, just before 11:00 p.m., Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 7 Highway and Sixth Line Nassagaweya in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 40-year-old Rockwood woman was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
