2.75 million people can begin booking appointments for their COVID-19 booster shot this weekend through the provinces vaccine portal.
Those eligible are aged 70 and over, health care workers and essential caregivers in congregate settings, Indigenous adults and people who have received 2 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Dr. Charles Gardner the Chief Medical Officer of Health with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit says the COVID looks like it is here to stay.
Vaccination clinics in Simcoe-Muskoka will start popping up again, although exact details of where and when have yet to be ironed out.
They are expected to be held in municipal community centres.
The booster shot is eventually expected to be offered to everyone.
