It’s expected today (nov 2) that the Ford government is set to announce they will be raising minimum wage to $15 an hour effective January 1st.
Sources says minimum wage would then increase, with the rate of inflation, every October.
Liquor server’s minimum wage will also increase from $12.55 per hour to $15 an hour.
Ford scrapped the $15 minimum wage when he took office 3 years ago.
In a tweet, Ontario Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca noted the timing saying “…Ford is finally ending his fight against minimum wage workers…” just “…7 months before an election, now that he’s desperate for votes.”
Del Duca added “…Doug Ford’s wage freeze in 2018 cost Ontario’s minimum wage earners $6200.”
