Minimum wage is going up!
Premier of Ontario Doug Ford is expected to announce today that minimum wage will be going from $14.35 per hour to $15 flat per hour. That will be effective as of January 1st. Reports say that minimum wage will then continue to increase with the rate of inflation every October.
Minimum wage was increased last October from $14 per hour to $14.25 per hour.
When they first entered office in 2018, the Ford Government scrapped legislation that would increase minimum wage to $15 per hour.
Liberal Leader for Ontario Stephen Del Duca had some choice words for Ford, taking to Twitter to say, “…Ford is finally ending his fight against minimum wage workers…” just “…7 months before an election, now that he’s desperate for votes.”
Doug Ford's wage freeze in 2018 cost Ontario's minimum wage earners $6200. Seven months before an election, now that he’s desperate for votes, @fordnation’s finally ending his fight against minimum wage workers. #onpoli https://t.co/HwGKtgDpc8
