The Church of the Evangelists in Tottenham welcomed a new minister earlier this year.
Reverend Eyad Ajji picked up his family and moved them from Syria to Canada.
The Anglican priest says Tottenham was not his first stop though.
While escaping the violence in his home country, he first made his way through Jordan, then onto Calgary and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
He says at times the weather has been a challenge.
Before he moved here he says the lowest temperature he had experienced was minus 2 or minus 3.
Reverend Ajji says his wife and 2 children feel welcome in Tottenham.
He hopes now that COVID restrictions are lifting he will have the opportunity to meet more people through the church.
