Are there any haunted houses in Milton?
I’ve been asking residents about their experiences this week and I decided to ask one of the few people in Milton who would have a definitive answer on local ghost stories. Milton Historical Society President John Challinor says he’s heard a few stories in his years. One of them involves the second floor of the Ford garage at Country Heritage Park.
He says the second floor was used as storage for clothing from the 1800s. The belief is the reported footsteps are from the old owners of the clothing walking around the building.
Another story that Challinor has heard from residents over the years involves what has become to be known as the Pewtress House. It used to be located at Tremaine Road and Main Street in Milton. Challinor says that former tenants of the home have shared some haunting stories.
The house was deconstructed when a park was built on the property. The home is being relocated to King Street, where it will reside as a heritage building and remain as a private residence. Challinor is waiting to see if the ghost stories make the trip across town.
Do you have any ghost stories? Is there a house in Milton that you believe to haunted? Let us know!
