A pleasant surprise in today’s COVID-19 update for Milton and Halton.
Across Halton, there are seven new cases. The total number of cases is up to 19,859. With 19,544 resolved cases and 243 deaths, Halton is at 72 active cases, three less than Tuesday’s update. The Region says that of the 19,859 total cases, 19,165 were confirmed positive while 694 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have zero new cases. That keeps us at 6336 total cases. With 6277 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 10 active cases, three cases less than Tuesday’s update. The Region says that of the 6336 total cases, 6094 were confirmed positive while 242 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6631 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2251 total variant cases.
There’s an outbreak being reported at a Milton workplace. It’s listed on the Halton Region webpage as ‘Workplace – 162’. There are eight total cases being reported – one is a Halton case, seven are considered non-Halton cases. It was first declared on Thursday, October 14th.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 889,487 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 797,599 of the doses were to Halton residents.
452,248 second doses have been administered in Halton. 403,877 of those have been Halton residents.
Here’s a breakdown on ages of those receiving doses:

- 22,912 first doses and 22,338 second doses have been administered to people aged 70-74;
- 17,298 first doses and 17,097 second doses have been administered to people aged 75-79;
- 24,706 first doses and 24,448 second doses have been administered to people aged 80+; and,
- 1,987 first doses and 1290 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 78,747 first doses and 104,294 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 13,888 first doses and 10,096 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 344,604 first doses and 337,858 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 464,228 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.13% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 97,067 fully immunized residents – 0.13% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
