The latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police is now available.
It shows six cases across Halton last week. Three involved Milton:
On Sunday, October 17th, just after 12:00 p.m., Halton Police officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Walkers Line and Dundas Street in Burlington. As a result of this initiative, a 28-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, October 18th, just after 4:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Regional Road 25 and 10 Sideroad in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 52-year-old Caledon man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, October 18th, just before 5:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of North Service Road and Guelph Line in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 39-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Monday, October 18th, just after 8:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Fifth Line and Main Street East in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Cambridge woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, October 20th, just before 7:30 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Ontario Street and Main Street East in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 39-year-old London man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Thursday, October 21th, just before 4:00 p.m., Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Trafalgar Road and Derry Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 43-year-old London man was charged with operation while impaired.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
