It was a heartbreaking night for the Milton Menace.
After taking the lead on a shorthanded goal with less than four minutes to go in the third period, the Oakville Blades managed to tie the game winner with four seconds left to send it to overtime. The Menace would lose 7-6 in 2OT. It’s the second double overtime loss this for the Milton Menace – both have been to the Oakville Blades.
Let’s recap it from the beginning:
Oakville jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the first half of the game. Thankfully, at the 10:32 mark in the 2nd period, Graydon White (assisted by Adam Tucci and Ryan O’Donnell) scored. That opened the floodgates for Milton.
With a pair of goals from both Holden Rogers and Nicholas Wereha, as well as a goal from Andrew Horsley, the Menace managed to take the lead late in the third. Unfortunately, Oakville’s Zach Wigle scoring with four seconds left to tie the game.
One overtime wasn’t enough, apparently. For the second game in a row against the Oakville Blades this season, the Menace lost in double overtime.
Milton is now 1-3-2 on the season, sitting last in the OJHL West Division. They visit the Brantford 99ers next. Gametime is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Gretzky Main Arena.
