Coming out of the weekend, we have a drop in active cases around the region.
Across Halton, there are 39 new cases since Friday. The total number of cases is up to 19,756. With 19,437 resolved cases and 242 deaths, Halton is at 77 active cases, ten less than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 19,756 total cases, 19,066 were confirmed positive while 690 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have eight new cases. That keeps us at 6317 total cases. With 6247 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 24 active cases, 12 cases less than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 6317 total cases, 6076 were confirmed positive while 241 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6607 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2243 total variant cases.
The Halton Region has reported an outbreak at a Milton school. The outbreak was first declared on Tuesday, October 12th. There are two cases being reported, both being considered ‘Halton’ cases, meaning the residents are from Halton. The outbreak is at Anne J. Macarthur Public School.
An outbreak is being reported at a second Milton school. This outbreak is at St. Benedict Catholic Elementary School. There are two cases being reported, the minimum for what is considered an outbreak. The outbreak was first declared on Wednesday, October 13th.
There’s an outbreak being reported at a Milton workplace. It’s listed on the Halton Region webpage as ‘Workplace – 162’. There are five (+2) total cases being reported – one is a Halton case, four (+2) are considered non-Halton cases. It was first declared on Thursday, October 14th.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 884,007 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 793,260 of the doses were to Halton residents.
448,611 second doses have been administered in Halton. 400,990 of those have been Halton residents.

The Halton Region says that out of the 460,431 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.12% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 96,166 fully immunized residents – 0.12% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
