A big part of the Milton Public Library (MPL) is receiving an award.
MPL Manager, Support Services, Kanta Kapoor is receiving the Internet Archive Hero Award from the Library Leaders Forum. Kapoor will be presented with the award at the Library Leaders Forum session on Wednesday, October 20th.
The Internet Archive Hero Award is an annual award that recognizes those who have exhibited leadership in making information available for digital learners all over the world.
In a statement, MPL Chief Librarian Mark Williams says Kapoor deserves the award for all of her hard work.
“Through MPL’s adoption of controlled digital lending in 2019, Kanta used her strong leadership skills to help build the partnership with Internet Archive, such that we were able to provide our patrons with access to tens of thousands of digitised materials at a time when they were more welcome than ever, during the pandemic lockdowns, while also being able to donate over 40,000 items for the benefit of a truly global audience.”
Previous recipients have included librarian and professor of law Michelle Wu, Phillips Academy, the Biodiversity Heritage Library, and the Grateful Dead.
